I loved this hero. He was almost too good to be true. It was a great read and I really enjoyed it. She is a painter, goes to the coast to sit her grandmother's cottage while the grandmother goes to Australia for a few months to enjoy the warmth. The boy next door is now a man and a very successful writer. He is just too good to be true. As young teens, she had a big crush on him but he didn't seem to see her. He really did and now sets out to win her as an adult.
Their story is good. She had some "man" issues to work through. To not paint them all with the same brush. There are some funny parts but I think I missed some of the humor because the story is set in London and the surrounding countryside and I missed some things because I didn't understand what they meant. For example, they wore "jumpers". I think it may have been a sweater, but not sure. It didn't effect the story at all. I really didn't think she mentioned what they were wearing to excess. As she would be worrying about what to wear to some event, the author would go over what she had on. For me it just painted a picture of how she looked. I would highly recommend the book for a light, romantic read. Can't go wrong.

LOVE a feel good romance novel edition by Beth Boyd Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
If the setting for this novel was the 1950s, I may have liked it better. In fact, I kept looking for clues that it was set in the past but I came up empty. In fact, the mention of Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was a good indication that this was a modern romance. Karen, the artist, was lacking a bit in the artsy edge I expected. Her mention of tying him up cracked me up and her standing up for herself and leaving Nick was awesome but then she wilted like a flower in the winter.
Adam was---stiff and formal (and Karen called him clear-headed and calm). He spoke formally with so little emotion for a writer....awkward. I thought and hoped he was joking at the mention of two bedrooms and I believe he was serious. There was little talk of love - a hike and him taking care of her when she was ill for a couple of days and suddenly, he casually says he wants to get married. It made me shake my head, baffled.
Overall, I think the book had potential but this was just a beginning. Karen could have helped him loosen up. He could have swept her off her feet and promised her the moon. It sure didn't feel like love to me--especially that first meeting love.
For a while, I thought it was the British setting/people and quickly disregarded that as a reason for the awkwardness. I have read plenty of British authors with British settings with so much passion falling off the pages, I blushes.
My advice to the author---keep writing and let go of the emotions. Don't hold back. Don't let the story fade out to darkness and mediocrity.
Karen is a struggling artist, she loves to paint. But because her family doesn’t respect her painting gas a job or business she is elected to take care of her grandmother’s cottage. Her and her sister had spent time there when they were a lot younger, so to go back and run into all these people she remembers from her childhood is a little weird now that she is a grown woman.
The one person she had conflicts about seeing is her grandmothers neighbor Adam, because at one time she was totally taken by him. Once he had shown her attention but he walked away. Karen believed that he hadn’t been as attracted to her as she was to him, but now as a grown man, and a traveling writer he is not afraid to express what really happened.
He was in awe of her, and if he would have stayed with her that night he may have pushed for more than a kiss.
There are only two things that keep getting in the way of them having something real. Nick her grandmothers agent, and Adams agent.
Can they find their way around the obstacles and into each other’s arms? You will have to read the story to find out.
Karen has had a crush on Adam since she was a child visiting her grandmother in Cornwall. Grandma was an artist and Karen inherited the artistic gene and has become a painter. When gran decides to go to Australia to visit family, Karen has to take care of grandma's home in Cornwall. The pressure is on because Karen has to complete several paintings for a show in London but she trudges back to the coast with plans of getting to work. There she meets Adam. The rest of the story is predictable but their romance is charming with a happily-ever-after that I've come to expect from romance novels. I'll read more by Beth Boyd.
I had high hopes of this book. Having read a string of crime novels, I was in the mood for some romance but was disappointed. At no time was I drawn into a "love" affair between the two main characters. The female of the pair - Karen - heads out reluctantly to house sit her grandmas' cottage and dog. When she arrives she remembers an older boy who used to look after her and her siblings when they were little and - based on a quick kiss when she is fourteen - decides that Adam is the love of her life.
Adam hardly appears to share the feeling. In this wishy washy, "he loves me he loves me not" scenario is placed the regulation bad bloke who comes and measures up Karen's grandmother's house for sale (this is never resolved) and then does the "bad" thing on Karen. During the saga, Adam swans in and out - now you see him now you don't - the jealous girlfriend/agent makes trouble and Karen waffles over whether he loves her and eventually decides that he is her soulmate.
The author could have made more of this novel, but the whole plot seems contrived, as though the traditional moves had to be made without any concession to characterisation or motives of the players. I kept waiting for something exciting to happen, but...no.
